Jonah's Hill & Lachish Park

Jonah's Hill is located next to the Ashdod port. Here, according to tradition, is the final resting place of the prophet Jonah. A well-tended park now marks the spot, and the towering hill is topped by the lighthouse of Ashdod Port. The hill offers a spectacular viewpoint for the port, the various quarters of the city, and the Mediterranean, from Palmachim beach in the north to Ashkelon in the south.

Down in the foothills is the Lachish Park. A leisure and entertainment site, the green park stretches over 160 acres, with a promenade, lawns, ornamental trees, sculptures, and specially-designed benches. The park also includes a zoo and an extreme sports park – Etgarim Park.
